One blog series that I started on my first blog last year was Friday Features. I did this as a way of keeping up with where my images were being featured, and because I was proud of each and every feature/mention that I had. Now that I have a beautiful new website and blog, I have an archive for them!
It's been a little bit over a year since I had my first "feature" on a blog, Bayside Bride. To this day I still get silly excited to have anything of mine shown anywhere other than my own blog/Facebook page/Instagram. I think this is because as a business owner, I am solely responsible for everything I do, and have no boss to answer to. (This may be why I constantly play James Brown's The Boss as a reminder... Paid the cost to be the boss!) So naturally, these "wins" feel like little pats on the back. This year I've had the incredible fortune of seeing my work in three print publications, which is really, very exciting!
Charleston Weddings featured Bria & Cameron's Winston & Ayla cut-outs for their article Rethink the Booth. These cut-outs were a MASSIVE hit at the wedding. Not only could guests snap their photos with them during cocktail hour, but they quickly became a favorite dance accessory at the reception. Kudos to Lindsey Shanks of A Charleston Bride (a dog lover herself!) for the fabulous idea! They also included an image of the couple on Kiawah's famous Ocean Course with their sweet pups.
Meagan & Ross, who had one of their engagement photos featured in The Knot DC/MD/VA, were also featured with their pup Brewski again in the fall/winter issue of Vow Bride. Vow is specific to the Hampton Roads area, and features lots of great tips for finding unique ideas and vendors for area couples. Before I had even delivered Meg & Ross' wedding images, Kim Wadsworth (Editor-in-Chief) reached out to me about using the image for their upcoming issue. (This was also a first for me--I had never before had someone ask me to use my work)!
CLEARLY we know who stole the show!
A trillion THANK YOU'S must go out to not only these publications for sharing my work, but to Bria & Cameron, and Meagan & Ross; without your permission and tireless work planning a wedding, none of this would have been possible. YOU are the reason I am even here writing this.
As it's Friday, I am prepping myself for what's slated to be a crazy fun wedding weekend! Tomorrow I'll be headed up to New Kent, VA for a rustic wedding at The Vintager Inn. I cannot wait to capture all the passion, romance, and FUN that's ahead. I'll also be working with my friends Citrus Ceremonies again!
