Bryan and Allison are fun.
I was quite curious about this couple, because we booked their Richmond, Virginia wedding via email, before meeting face-to-face. Normally, things don't happen this way; most couples usually prefer to meet their photographer before booking, for many reasons. One major reason for this is because when you're choosing a photographer for your wedding day, you're making an investment not only in their artistry, but also their personality. Your wedding photographer(s) will be spending more time with you than anyone else on your wedding day, so meeting prior to booking is always a good idea to ensure that you mesh well together. It really does make a difference in the entire experience of your wedding prep and execution. I felt completely comfortable about our booking with Allison based on our emails, and I am so glad that's how our story began.
With my curiosity peaked, and my excitement running high, Logan (!!! !!! !!!) and I met up with Bryan and Allison last month for their engagement session in Colonial Williamsburg.
In getting to know these two, I found out that they share one huge interest of mine: travel. Not just any travel; any travel. Allison is a girl after my own heart, and is always up for an adventure, be it near or far. Whether planning a vacation with family to Japan, or a quiet weekend getaway as a couple, Allison likes to go, see, and do. She too is curious, and I absolutely love her spirit!
Her spirit is also what helped to make this session so sweet! Both Bryan and Allison were incredibly down-to-Earth, easy to chat with, and up for anything. Their ease with each other and with Logan and I made for truly beautifully natural, playful engagement portraits for these two. And despite Allison's claims that she is not a morning person, her upbeat attitude and gorgeous smile definitely had me believing otherwise.
Brian had me in laughing fits, and he was such a great sport throughout the entire session. Bonus: he totally didn't fire me when I performed my New York accent for him (he's a native), although I'm pretty sure he may have questioned their choice at that point... ;)
What made this engagement session extra-extra special is that it was the first Logan and I did together! It was more fun than I possibly could have imagined--and he had fun too! We worked together nicely, and many of the images in this blog post are his! I enjoyed knowing that Bryan and Allison's session would be diverse. With varying angles and from different lenses from Logan and I, we were able to deliver a larger, more complete gallery, and not just for the sake of "more images". I only hope that each session will go as smoothly and as well as this one!
I genuinely had such a pleasurable time with Bryan, Allison, and Logan, that I was sad to end the session. I sincerely cannot wait until September, when we will all reunite again for Bryan and Allison's Jefferson Hotel wedding in Richmond!
